In celebration of the Landfall Press Exhibition, FWMoA will host artist and educator, Steve Garst, for a lively demonstration making relief prints with LEGO tiles. Steve Garst is an artist, educator, and designer/owner of the Provisional Press project. He has been working in letterpress, printmaking, and book arts for the last 15 years and teaching for the last ten years at universities across the Midwest. In response to the pandemic, he developed a printing press kit that has been built by hundreds of people and is used by over 50 universities as a solution for students to print at home. Participants will be able to create a small print and take it home with them!
Guests may also join FWMoA’s Curator of Prints and Drawings, Sachi Yanari-Rizzo, on a curator’s tour of “Landfall Press: Five Decades of Printmaking.” Yanari-Rizzo will guide visitors through 50 years of work from one of the country’s most renowned printer-publishers. Landfall Press’s history is marked by groundbreaking collaboration with a host of distinguished artists, including Judy Chicago, Chuck Close, Robert Indiana, and Kara Walker, as well as international rising stars like Jiha Moon, Nusra Latif Qureshi, and Fatima Ronquillo.
