Filming & Photography Policy

To protect the safety of the art and our guests, the following guidelines must be followed when photographing in FWMoA.

General Guests

Photography of art in the exhibitions is limited to non-flash photography for personal use only. Social media uploading of personal photography is encouraged using the hashtag #fwmoa.

General guests are not permitted to use tripods or lights in the exhibitions.

Photography must be conducted without disruption to Museum operations or limitation to the accessibility of exhibitions, entrances/exits, doorways, or pathways. Climbing on outdoor sculptures is prohibited.

Students

Students may obtain a free photo pass only for the completion of class assignments by emailing the Director of Visual Communication and providing a valid student ID. FWMoA will no longer accommodate any day-of or day-before requests.

Media

Media may photograph or film within designated areas of the FWMoA for the purpose of news coverage. All members of the media must make arrangements with the Marketing Department calling (260) 422-6467 prior to their arrival, and a member of the FWMoA staff must accompany your crew for the duration of the shoot.

Photography & Video Shoots

Anyone wishing to photograph or film at FWMoA for commercial, creative or personal use such as wedding and engagement shoots, must make a request with the Marketing Department through the linked form below. No requests will be considered by phone call or email not via the form.

FEES and TIMELINE
  • A single day photo pass fee of $40 covers up to two (2) named photographers from a single company and up to ten (10) individuals from a single client group (e.g., no more than ten (10) individuals for a family portrait session).
  • Payment of fees is due on or before your scheduled session.
  • To ensure a scheduled session, submit completed application at least two (2) weeks in advance of the intended date(s) of photography. Applications received less than 2 weeks before your session may not be considered.
  • Applications are only accepted through the linked form below.
  • If you are more than 15 minutes late, your time slot is forfeited. Your photo session must be between the hours of 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday. No weekend sessions will be allowed.
POLICY
  • Photographers and their crew must display a Visitor badge and will be accompanied by FWMoA staff for the duration of the session.
  • Photography must be conducted without disruption to FWMoAs’ operations or limitation to the accessibility of exhibitions, entrances/exits, doorways, pathways and high traffic areas.
  • We are no longer able to accommodate ANY gallery sessions. Please be aware of what is on display before you arrive and how the artwork might affect your planned session.

  • Photographs of museum objects and grounds must not be used to assert or imply the Fort Wayne Museum of Art endorses any commercial product or enterprise, concurs with the opinions expressed in, or confirms the accuracy of any text used with these photographs.
  • Original artworks and sculptures in the museum may be protected by copyright.
  • Photography sessions are intended for private, noncommercial use only. Photos may not be reproduced, published or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner, to protect the rights of the creator(s).
  • FWMoA reserves the right to request at least one (1) gratis copy of any publication or project that includes photographs
    or video footage of any parts of any of its properties.
  • FWMoA reserves the right to request reciprocal use, for in-house publications, projects, or online dissemination, of images created that include any parts of any of its properties. The photographer/company will retain copyright of the photographs and will be appropriately credited in any uses of the files by FWMoA.

  • Doors may not be propped or held open at any time.
  • Care must be taken to prevent the abrasion of walls and floors.
  • No equipment is to be placed on object cases, sculptures, or furniture, including built-in furniture and window sills.
  • Due to the light-sensitive nature of some artworks, some types of lights are restricted in the length of time they are in use and/or are not permitted altogether.
  • Where possible, stands/tripods must be placed at least five (5) feet away from all artworks.
  • No collection objects or furniture may be moved or used by anyone on the photography and videography crew(s).
  • Wardrobe changes and makeup application must take place in the designated area only. No hairspray may be used inside the atrium, hallway, or galleries.
NOT PERMITTED
  • Sessions involving animals, not including necessary service animals
  • Sessions involving nudity or illegal activity
  • Organic props ie: food, flowers
  • Weapons

 

FWMoA could at times be considered under structural and/or cosmetic construction. Structural and/or cosmetic construction includes but is not limited to improvements to landscape (e.g., plantings, tree trimming/removal, mowing, etc.), installation of artwork(s) and/or seasonal festival preparations (e.g., setting lights, sound, and other equipment). FWMoA makes every effort to communicate any structural and/or cosmetic construction to guests while they are onsite, though at times, such construction may occur on short notice or be of an emergency nature. FWMoA is not responsible for any costs associated with modifying plans to a photography or videography shoot to navigate ongoing work at FWMoA.
