2014 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

February 09, 2014 - April 06, 2014

The Fort Wayne Museum of Art Scholastic Program, which features the Art & Writing Awards competition, continues to gain momentum.  The FWMoA Program is one of only 26 Scholastic Programs in the country to offer the full Art and Writing Program and our region has grown to include 52 counties in Indiana and Ohio.  Year after year, the winning students in our program go on to win numerous national awards.  In the process of receiving national recognition, our young artists join the ranks of many celebrated American artists and writers which includes luminaries such as Richard Avedon, Andy Warhol, Bernard Malamud, Robert Redford, Sylvia Plath , Joyce Carol Oates, Luis Jimenez, and Truman Capote, among others.

The exhibition includes hundreds of works of art and writing by talented young people in our region taught by educators committed to creative achievement in their classrooms. The high caliber of entries from this area has propelled Northeast Indiana – Northwest Ohio to one of the top regions for National awards given in the past few years.

The Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s success in leading our Scholastic Art & Writing Affiliate Program is directly related to our willingness to invest in our region’s young talent.  Our regional entries and national awards have more than doubled in the past five years, making ours a model program for the rest of the country. Our investment has helped regional students garner nearly one million dollars in scholarships at colleges and universities across the country for the third straight year.
