April 25, 2026 - August 09, 2026

Chuck Sperry is an American printmaking master known for his psychedelic rock-and-roll posters full of intricate details, bold colors, and visually striking imagery. In his personal artistic practice, Ancient Greece has served as a source of inspiration for Sperry for its rich mythological history and its pioneering of a democratic society. The Greek Muses, nine goddesses of the arts and sciences, represent Sperry’s commitment to exploring the relationship between art, nature, and social commentary in the modern world. This exhibition highlights Sperry’s vision of the Muses rendered exclusively on just over 100 wooden panels in the most complete display of them to date. All the works shown in the exhibition will join Chuck Sperry’s Archive in FWMoA’s Permanent Collection.

This exhibition is supported by the Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation and is curated by Curator of Contemporary Art and Senior Technician Josef Zimmerman.
