Among Harvey Littleton’s first graduate students in glass, Marvin Lipofsky (1938-2016) was an accomplished sculptor, who found glass to be the perfect medium to explore his formal concerns, creating elegant shapes that are abstract, yet organic. A pioneer in the Studio Glass Movement, the artist experimented with free- and mold-blown glass and surface treatments (such as flocking, sandblasting, and acid etching) in addition to his printmaking in monotype and lithography.
Spanning Lipofsky’s career, this exhibition features glass sculptures and prints from FWMoA’s collection, including recent gifts from the Marvin Lipofsky Studios.
