Mezzotint and the Power of Darkness

Please note: This exhibition will be closed from March 2- 6 due to setup for a museum event and will reopen 4pm on Saturday, March 7. The museum’s Glass Wing will remain open during that time.

The richness and remarkable, subtle gradations in tone in mezzotint is astounding. Despite this, it is not a popular medium, perhaps due to its laborious, time-consuming process. This does not deter artists included in this exhibition: Donald Furst, Robert Kipniss, Fred Mershimer, and Carol Wax, who have become renowned for their mezzotint prints.
