Rims and Fins: The Golden Age of American Bicycles

Despite our obsession with automobiles throughout the 20^th century, Americans have long embraced a more basic means of transportation: the bicycle.  And during some of the peak years of the automotive industry following WW II, Americans too young to drive begged their parents for new sleekly styled bicycles that mimicked the designs of hot American cars and motorcycles.

This exhibition focuses on the classic bicycles of the Boomer Generation and contextualizes the evolution of this dramatic shift in bicycle design as our leading manufacturers scurried to meet the demands of this new market.

This exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Bicycle Museum of America and the Hoosier Antique and Classic Bicycle Club.
