Michael Estes Taylor: Voyage of Variations

September 14, 2019 - November 17, 2019

Science is the incubator for technology – and this work relates to this incubation as our technical world evolves: computers, cell phones, and artificial Intelligence.

Glass without any sentient manipulation makes a statement regarding futuristic thought. Objects/devices use glass in all its forms from space travel to recreation that speaks of the present and the future.

These prints and glass objects by Michael Estes Taylor address the future and ultimately begs the examination of more humanistic topics of scientific ethics and questions; how far can science go before it affects the human condition, such as the nuclear fission or beyond human consciousness to artificial intelligence?

One of the goals/responsibilities of an artist is to reflect, report, and question cultural values and sociological observations of his period in human history. My analogues are reference to literature or recording history. I have a work titled, This is the Time and this is a Record of the Time. This work represents the advent of unconventional scientific theory. For example: phasers, force fields, teleportation, and time travel, to name a few.
