Second Chances
Blue Jacket, a Fort Wayne agency meeting unmet needs for anyone looking for a second chance, is collaborating with FWMoA to present this exhibit. This is the second year for this unique project and fundraiser that exhibits real stories, the trials, failures, and successes of Blue Jacket clients and their second chance for a healthy life and career. The stories are told by visual artists through a variety of mediums offering viewers a unique perspective to interact with the individuals lives.
Artists creating work for this exhibit will develop a relationship with their subjects to portray significant life events of fellow citizens who have fallen, regained their footing, and then triumphed to gain a life that makes them proud. The Fort Wayne Museum of Art is proud to partner with Blue Jacket to bring this exhibit to the public, highlighting the ability visual arts has in giving a voice to a group of individuals.
The works in the exhibit will be auctioned at an event March 31 at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art with proceeds benefiting the Blue Jacket Career Academy, the two-week training that helps any adult seeking a second chance at employment. The 2017 goal is to graduate 300 adults from Career Academy to achieve a 90% employment rate as experienced in 2016.
