Exhibitions

Our nine galleries give us a unique opportunity to weave exhibits drawn from the permanent collection, exhibits created by other institutions, and exhibits we’ve developed ourselves into a rich tapestry of American visual culture that will have significance and meaning for all.  In the next two years, we would like to;
    •    Develop an exhibition that focuses on America’s fine and applied arts from the War of 1812 to the Civil War.
    •    Create an exhibition that explores the changing shape and style of American Art as we move past the Civil War to World War I.
    •    Generate a series of exhibits that highlight the strength of contemporary art in the Midwest.
    •    Produce a series of exhibits that provide insight into the influences from around the world which influenced American Art in the past and are shaping American Art today.
    •    Collaborate with several major American museums and private collectors to create exhibits that would bring objects together that have never before been seen in Indiana.
    •    Curate a series of exhibitions that explore and celebrate the diversity of American visual culture and deepen our understanding of the breadth and depth of American culture.
    •    Develop a series of exhibitions that brings to light the extraordinary work of contemporary craftspeople working in wood, glass, stone, metal, and a range of other materials.
