Join Curator, Sachi Yanari-Rizzo, for a tour of the From Gesture to Geometry: American Abstract Artists exhibition which explores a young generation of American abstract artists emerged in New York City, aware of past avant-garde trends in Europe. Founded in 1936, American Abstract Artists was more of a community than a movement. The group was a forum to exchange ideas and provide exhibiting and publishing opportunities. This exhibition reflects the range of current and past members’ works from the permanent collection, including Will Barnet, Byron Browne, Sam Gilliam, and Dorothea Rockburne, among others.
The tour is at 6pm and visitors enjoy free admission, cash bar, and light appetizers.
If you plan to bring a group of 10 or more, please call Emily Uphoff at 260.422.6467 or email [email protected].
